In February, go beyond Valentine’s Day by learning to choose courage, gratitude, forgiveness, and compassion. This month is the 6th annual Choose Love Awareness Month from the Jessie Lewis Choose Love Movement.
The Choose Love Awareness Month brings attention to the importance of teaching children core competencies and skills beyond academics that can help them thrive physically, mentally and emotionally.
Each week in February will focus on one of the four themes– courage, gratitude, forgiveness, and compassion. Tips on how to incorporate each theme into daily life will be posted on the Choose Love social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn.
These skills are not just for students either! There are free online programs for families and communities as well.
Enter the free photo contest to win free Choose Love Movement materials. Submit a picture of your students, family or group practicing one of the four themes. Winning photos will be featured on the organization’s social media. Deadline is February 29.
The Choose Love Movement™ sparks an emotional connection that opens the hearts and minds of students as well as educators and other school staff, to fuel connection and stoke personal growth. Scarlett Lewis founded the organization shortly after her six-year-old son, Jesse Lewis, was murdered at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut in December 2012, alongside 19 of his first-grade classmates and six educators in one of the worst mass shootings in U.S. history.
